Measure & drawings

Your first drawing

Start a drawing from a job, draw a floor plan, add tags and photos, mark it field-ready and make a report.

A drawing is the plan you draw and the measurements and photos you collect on one property. Every drawing belongs to a job, so it is never loose.

Start it

Start from the job, or use New in the app and choose New Drawing. You pick or create the job first. The Drawings list shows the drawing afterward and its name appears in the footer while you work.

Fill in Drawing Info (name, address, client, notes) before you make a report. It prints on the report and gives the default file name when you export.

Your company name, logo and contact details come from Settings, Company, Business info. They are set once and used on every report.

Draw the plan

You start in a Grid layout. Grid draw snaps lines to the cells. Pencil draw is freehand. Snap keeps lines horizontal, vertical or at 45 degrees.

Make one layout per room, floor or side of the building and give each a clear name, because the names become the report's section headings. See Layout types.

Add window and door tags where the openings are, then fill in each tag's size. Tags are what the takeoff and the estimate count.

Photos and notes

Take photos with the in-app camera, add notes for what the drawing cannot show, and keep the Review dashboard open to see which tags still need a size.

Drawing readiness: Field-ready

A drawing has three stages: In progress while you work, Drawn when the drawing is finished, and Field-ready once you have checked it for use on site. Open the drawing's menu in Drawings, choose Mark field-ready and confirm. Marking it field-ready does not check the dimensions and does not complete the job. To change it, choose Back to in progress. On a team drawing this needs edit access and permission to change drawing status, so ask your owner or admin if the choice is missing.

Report

Use the report command or the report button. The report combines every layout, the tags, photos, notes and Drawing Info. See Reports.

Pro tip: Name layouts as you create them (Kitchen, Front Elevation). Renaming later costs more time than naming once.
