A layout is one canvas inside a drawing: a room, a floor, a side of the house, a roof or a page of notes. Each layout keeps its own drawing, tags and fills, and one drawing can mix any layout types.
Pick a type
Tap + in the layout bar to open the picker. It only shows what your team has turned on. An owner or admin can hide Sketch, Drafting, Document and Site Plan under Settings, Team, Field tools.
- Grid Layout: the floor-plan grid with tags and measurements. This is the default and has the most tools.
- Sketch: a freehand canvas for Apple Pencil or a finger.
- Document: pages for notes, checklists and imported PDFs, shown like a PDF viewer.
- Drafting: precise CAD drawing with scale, snap and layers.
- Site Plan: a property map you trace on, for roofs and lots. See Site Plan.
- Elevation: a house side built from a photo scan. It needs a paid plan and an internet connection.
- Photo from Library: puts a photo on a layout you can mark up.
Create, switch, rename
Add a layout from the picker or type layout and a name in the command bar. Free accounts can add as many layouts as they like: layouts are not limited by plan. Switch from the layout bar. Each layout remembers its own zoom, position and undo history. Deleting a layout removes its drawing, tags and fills for good, so check before you confirm.
Naming and order
Layout names become the report's section headings, and the report lists layouts in the order you made them. Create them in the order you want them to read.
- Houses: one layout per room, plus one per side for Elevations. For several floors, start the name with the floor: 1st Floor Kitchen.
- Commercial and inspection work: one layout per zone or area (Zone 1, Zone 2), with photos and notes on each.
- Big drawings: make an index layout first that shows which layout covers which area.
- Separate trades on one room: Kitchen - Floor Plan, Kitchen - Electrical, Kitchen - Plumbing.
