Site Plan layouts

Trace a roof or lot on the property's map. The Site Plan layout measures areas, lines and counts, and prices roof facets.

A Site Plan layout is a map of the property. You trace roof outlines, lot lines and counted items on it, and the app works out the sizes. It is new, and parts of it are still changing.

Start

Choose Site Plan in the layout picker. The map centers on the drawing's address. If there is no address, or it cannot be placed, pan to the property and tap to start. An owner or admin can hide the layout under Settings, Team, Field tools (called Site Map Layout there).

Four tools

Each shape can be tagged to one of your categories, so it flows to the takeoff like any other tag.

  • Area: tap the corners of a shape; tap the first corner or choose Finish to close it. It reports plan area and surface area.
  • Line: tap points for a length.
  • Count: tap to count items.
  • Roof facet: an area that also has a pitch and typed edges.

Edges and pitch

Tap an edge to type its tape length. The shape keeps its bearing and the app tells you how far the map was off. Name roof edges as eave, rake, ridge, hip or valley so they price correctly (gutters on eaves, trim on rakes, cap on ridges and hips, valley metal on valleys). Pitch comes from your Level reading, from a roof report, or from the pitch you set for new facets.

Help with roofs

The map is plan view on Apple imagery, so roof areas need a pitch to be real surface area. Verify pitch with the Level before ordering.

  • Suggest roof facets from lidar proposes planes inside an outline from public USGS lidar. Tap a plane to accept it. It finds nothing where there is no lidar.
  • Import report reads an EagleView or HOVER roof report into tags. Imported quantities are the vendor's and are marked that way.
  • The roof summary shows facets, squares and an order total with waste, and warns when pitch was assumed on some facets.
