Both drawing modes work on the same Grid layout, so walls and curved details can live together.
Grid draw
Grid draw snaps your lines to the cell grid. It is the right choice for walls, rooms and anything straight. Tap or drag to draw segments. Close a shape and you can fill it with a texture. Start it with the draw grid command or the toolbar.
Pencil draw
Pencil draw is freehand. With a shape mode on, the app reads your rough stroke and cleans it up. The shapes are freehand, arrow, square, rectangle, oval, three-sided, circle, half-circle, half-eyebrow and arch. Use pencil rectangle for window and door openings on elevations, and pencil arch for arched windows.
Short forms: f, arr, s, r, o, u, c, hc, he and a.
Snap
Snap straight locks lines to horizontal and vertical. Snap diagonal adds 45 degrees. Snap off draws freely. Commands: snap s, snap d, snap off. Snap works in both modes.
Zoom and the grid
Pinch to zoom and drag with two fingers to pan. The zoom range is 0.5x to 5x on iPad and Mac, and 0.25x to 5x on iPhone. The zoom command takes a number in that range. The grid lines can be hidden with grid off, for cleaner screenshots and exports. The drawing stays.
Edit controls
Undo and redo step through the layout's own history. Lock stops stray touches while you review or present. Maximize gives the canvas the whole screen, and restore returns it. Clear empties the layout. The history command opens the drawing's history timeline.
Tips
- Draw the structure with grid draw first, then switch to pencil for curves and annotation.
- Slide a plan or photo underneath as an overlay and trace it. See Overlays.
- Lock a finished layout so a stray touch cannot change it.
- Use undo freely. Nothing is lost by trying.
