My bookkeeper has run Desktop for years and is not moving. Everything else about the CRM fits our shop.

Declined honestly rather than left open forever. The integration is built on QuickBooks Online’s API; Desktop has no comparable public API, and Intuit has stopped selling new Desktop subscriptions. Building on a product being wound down would break the moment it moved. If your bookkeeper runs Desktop, migrating that company file to QBO is the path the sync can support.
